Our Epiphany Story
It Started With a Belief.
A group of parents and professionals gathered in July 2008 to discuss the need for a different kind of school in Charlotte. Parents shared their personal stories of frustration, and anxiety over how their child’s needs were not fully understood nor adequately supported with the then-current educational choices in the area. Their stories echoed similar themes:
“My son loves to learn, especially about topics of his interest. He is bright and creative. Socially however, he struggles, and this significantly impacts his confidence and success, especially at school. He is stressed most of the time.”
“Facts come easily to my child. Friendships and feelings do not. She is teased and often left out by other children at school. She’s not happy. I want her to have friends and enjoy going to school each day.”
“Teachers don’t understand my son. His classmates don’t get him. He is lonely. He is barely surviving at school.”
Our mission was born that warm July evening, inspired by the belief that each child can thrive with the right people and right environment. We set out to create a different kind of school for the differently minded child, with mission-driven educators seeking to fully understand and appreciate the uniqueness of each child, and willing to think outside-the-box to create a nurturing community and meaningful educational experience so each child can thrive emotionally, socially, spiritually and academically.
We strive to inspire an epiphany within each of our students so that they can discover their strengths and develop the skills to succeed in the world.
At The Epiphany School of Charlotte, extraordinary minds thrive!
