Alicia GozyckiDirector of Advancement
    My educational background:

BA in English from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts.

    My certifications:

I’ve worked in advertising, marketing, and sales over the course of my career. For the last five years I was the Marketing and Admissions Director at Scholars Academy. While there I realized how much I loved working in a school setting and seeing the children grow.  I’m excited for the opportunity to join the amazing Epiphany team!

My favorite teacher from my past:

My 7th grade English teacher, Mr. Shanley.  He was a beacon of support during what was a tough year socially for me, and his lessons were so engaging. Mr. Shanley was also the cross country and track coach at our high school, and while I was not a runner back then, I did pick up running in my 30s. Mr. Shanley cheered me on every step of the way through social media.

What do I love about Epiphany?

My passion is in helping others understand children who are twice-exceptional and those with learning differences, so I love Epiphany’s mission and values. Their daily focus on social emotional learning and the celebration of each child is truly special.

How does teaching and working with children inspire me?

While I am not a teacher, working in a school environment fills my cup.  I love watching students learn and grow. Their energy, joy, and curiosity is contagious!

    My spirit animal:

    A tyrannosaurus rex

    My favorite movie:

All of the Harry Potter movies!

    My favorite board game:

Catan, Ticket to Ride, and Trivial Pursuit

    My favorite book:

Cloudy With A Chance of Meatballs, by Judi and Ronald Barrett

My favorite character, cartoon, or superhero:

Belle from Beauty and the Beast. Like Belle, I love a good library.

    My Interests and hobbies:

Reading, singing, hiking, and anything Disney

    My origins, travels and/or adventures:

I love visiting the mountains, the beach, and state and national parks. My favorite family adventure to date was canyoneering in the backcountry of Zion National Park!

My favorite thing to do, place to go, or eatery in Charlotte:

I really enjoy live theater, especially musicals.  You can often find me at Blumenthal shows and at Theatre Charlotte.
