“When my older son, Avery, was diagnosed with ASD-1 in seventh grade, I was simultaneously relieved and overwhelmed. I knew that public school was not the right fit for him. He needed a school that appreciated his differences and would help him develop the skills needed to successfully navigate a world designed for neurotypical, rather than neurodivergent, people. What I did not know is that our entire family needed a school that would help us understand ASD-1 and, by extension, Avery. Epiphany was the answer.

Epiphany’s small class sizes and supportive staff gave Avery the opportunity to focus on strengthening his executive functioning skills, developing appropriate social skills, and improving his resilience. At the same time, Epiphany’s supportive community of teachers, staff, and parents embraced our family and provided us with the education and support we sorely needed. Thanks to the Epiphany village, Avery has a better understanding of his autism and we, as his family, have a better understanding of how to support and advocate for him. I am honored to have the opportunity to serve on Epiphany’s Board and give back to the school that has given our family so much.”
