I have been working with students of various grades 2017, helping with with stress, aggression, and general depression. I have attended numerous SEL Professional Development classes to progress my ability to help students work through and understand their feelings.

My favorite teacher from my past:

Chris Pittman, who was a teacher from CPCC. He once identified me by the sound of my walk saying, “Is that Michael Haynes? You have a very purposeful walk.”

What do I love about Epiphany?

When I walk through a school, the thing I look for is the vibes. How is the space used and lit? Is this a comfortable place for everyone? What are the people like? Epiphany has good vibes in spades.

How does teaching and working with children inspire me?

The light bulb moment. Seeing that moment where things click together and the student makes the connection is tremendously satisfying.

Jon Snow. He may come off as bland and generic as a hero, but he does what a hero should, the right thing no matter if it won’t lead to his own happiness. 

My Interests and hobbies:

I’m an avid fan of comics, sci-fi, and fantasy. Over the years I have cosplayer several characters. I’ve produced a podcast and am working on my first book.

My origins, travels and/or adventures:

I’m originally from just south of Detroit, MI. I moved to Charlotte in 2010. Since meeting my wife, I’ve traveled to the West Virginia mountains, New Orleans, Florida, and California Wine Country.

My favorite thing to do, place to go, or eatery in Charlotte:

2nd & Charles, a used book store on South Blvd. It’s like Media Play of old. I can spend hours there.
